OLD WORLD INDUSTRIES CELEBRATES 50th ANNIVERSARY

Northbrook, Ill. (November 7, 2023) – Old World Industries (OWI), the manufacturer of PEAK® Antifreeze & Coolant and BlueDEF® Diesel Exhaust Fluid is proudly celebrating its 50th year in business. Much has grown since its inception on November 8, 1973, but OWI’s commitment to its customers remains at the forefront.

Old World Industries' story begins in the early 1970’s when the late Riaz Waraich met Tom Hurvis and the two strangers instantly connected, which led to a lifelong friendship and the formation of OWI. Soon they realized that together they had the power to change not only their lives, but an entire industry.

“In 1976, people said we couldn't compete,” said OWI Chairman Tom Hurvis. Hurvis and Waraich worked tirelessly to establish OWI as a serious player in the chemical and later the automotive industry through constant product innovation. By the late 1980s, OWI had penetrated the North American market and launched itself to stardom when it acquired the PEAK brand. Through Hurvis’ marketing prowess, they instantly became a household name in the automotive industry.

Looking ahead to the present, OWI continues to remain committed to providing both its customers and consumers with top-of-the-line products and service. This dedication has been marked by numerous awards from the industry, our retail and distribution partners.
