J. Thomas Hurvis
Tom, with his partner Riaz Waraich, started Old World Industries as a chemical trading company in 1973 with just $2,000. Prior to OWI, Tom worked for Colgate Palmolive and Rand McNally, before starting Hurvis Binzer and Churchill, a boutique advertising agency well known for its award-winning campaigns, such as Screaming Yellow Zonkers and Mardi Gras Paper Towels.
In addition to leading the vision for Old World, Tom’s philanthropic interests range from finding a cure for Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, College Access with emphasis on mentoring and scholarships, Community Engagement for inner-city youth, and support of the Lyric Opera, Lincoln Park Zoo, Providence St. Mel School and Lawrence University.
Tom received his undergraduate degree from Lawrence University and an MBA from University of California, Berkeley.
Chief Executive Officer
Charles joined OWI in 2010 and served as the Vice President of Global Diesel Exhaust Fluid and Equipment business before his promotion to Chief Executive Officer in 2018. Charles has significant experience working closely with OWI's extensive base of Retail and Commercial customers as well as developing business partners throughout the world.
Prior to joining Old World, Charles served as the N.A. Sales and Marketing Manager for The Hopkins Group in Atlanta, GA, as well as the Global Director of Sales and Marketing for Armor Systems International, an anti-weapon technology company based in Washington state.
Charles holds a BS in Business Management from The College of Business and Management in Vancouver. In addition, Charles enjoys scuba diving, skiing, and hunting.
Chief Financial Officer
Mark joined OWI in March 2009 as Director of Accounting. Increased responsibilities led to his most recent promotion to Chief Financial Officer. Mark is responsible for overseeing the execution of all financial activities including monthly financial close, financial reporting, financial planning, banking, audit, and tax.
Prior to joining Old World, Mark served as Chief Financial Officer for a promotional marketing company and spent several years in the public accounting sector, most recently working for Ernst & Young.
Mark graduated from Indiana University in 1990 with a B.S. in Finance and from DePaul University in 2003 with his MBA. Mark also retains a certificate as a CPA since 1993.
Mark resides in the suburbs of Chicago with his wife and two daughters.
Chief Technical Officer
John joined OWI in 2014 as the Technical Director responsible for the global development of key chemical and functional fluid technologies, as well as establishing global OEM relationships from a technical perspective. John has significant experience as a business leader in the chemicals industry and is focused on achieving sustainable global market growth through the development of advanced chemical technologies.
Prior to joining Old World, John held leadership positions at Cummins Inc., where he directed the development and global commercialization of new heavy-duty coolant technologies.
John completed his B.S. in Chemistry from Tennessee Technological University and an Executive MBA in Strategic Leadership and Internal Business from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. John enjoys hiking, skiing, and spelunking.
Philip K Philip
SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, HEAD OF MARKETING & PRODUCT MANAGEMENT
Philip joined OWI in September, 2018 as VP of Marketing and Product Management, leading the development of key strategic initiatives across OWI’s marketing and product teams. As Head of Marketing since March 2019, Philip is responsible for overseeing all aspects of marketing including development of consumer insights, marketing analytics, development and execution of marketing plans, creative development, brand strategy, product management and innovation.
Philip brings with him over 20 years of experience in Marketing, Product Management, and Innovation from Fortune 500 companies such as Henkel, Gillette, The Hershey Company, and Sears. Most notably, as General Manager for Diehard at Sears, he was responsible for leading the relaunch of the Diehard brand into tires and wiper blades, with channel expansion into Amazon.
Philip has a B.S. in Science from Delhi University. He also has a Masters in International Management (equivalent to MBA) from International Management Institute (IMI) Delhi. His interests are mentoring people and traveling.
VICE PRESIDENT, HUMAN RESOURCES
Jeanette joined OWI in June of 2019 as VP of Human Resources, responsible for leading the development of a strategic Human Resources function. As head of Human Resources, Jeanette will oversee all aspects of HR including Employee Relations, Performance Management, Benefits, Compensation, Talent Acquisition, Training and Development, Organizational Development and Policies and Processes.
Jeanette brings 20+ years of experience in Human Resources from Fortune 500 companies such as GE, Avon Products, and SealedAir (Bubble Wrap). Most recently, Jeanette was the VP and Chief HR Officer for Paris Presents in Gurnee, a cosmetic accessory company with brands such as EcoTools, Real Techniques and Body Benefits. Prior to Paris Presents, Jeanette was the Senior HR Director with Amtrak, located at Union Station in Chicago, IL.
Jeanette has a B.A. in English Linguistics from Illinois State University, where she met her husband of over 20 years. When she isn’t working, you will find her on a softball field somewhere in the Midwest, cheering on her daughter.
Chief Supply Chain Officer
Tony joined OWI in 2018 as Chief Supply Chain Officer. He leads a team of supply chain professionals who deliver world class sourcing, purchasing, and production planning services for our US business.
Prior to joining Old World, Tony led manufacturing organizations at Sonoco Products and Bigelow Tea, specializing in the development of people and processes in pursuit of continuous improvement. He brings 30 years of experience in operations leadership, including Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and plant turnarounds. Tony has also served as an adjunct professor, teaching Operations and Strategic Management courses at the MBA and undergraduate levels.
Tony earned his BS and MS degrees in Industrial Management from Clemson University. In his spare time, he enjoys whitewater kayaking, fishing, hunting, and almost any outdoor activity. He and his wife live in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago.
Chief Legal Officer
Richard joined OWI in 2003 and served as Associate General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel before becoming Old World’s Chief Legal Officer in 2018.
Richard’s responsibilities include overseeing, supervising and managing all legal, compliance and risk management functions for the company and directing and managing all legal services provided by outside counsel.
Prior to joining Old World, Richard was a senior attorney at BP and Amoco Oil Company and a lawyer in private practice in Chicago where he specialized in commercial litigation.
Richard earned his law degree from DePaul University, his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and his undergraduate degree (with honors) from Northwestern University. In his spare time Richard is a singer, guitarist and painter.
CHIEF SALES OFFICER
John has worked at Old World Industries in the Retail Division since 1991 in various roles, including Key Account Manager, VP Sales National Accounts and most recently, Sr VP Retail Division. In May 2020, John became the first Chief Sales Officer and was tasked to transform OWI's selling function into a "Best in Class" Global Sales Organization. In this new role, John will lead the selling of Old World products worldwide through channel focused teams, driving Old World's industry-leading brands and distribution network with unmatched customer/supplier relationships.
Prior to joining the Old World team, John worked for Exxon Company USA in various sales and marketing management positions. John has a BS degree in Accounting and an MBA from The Pennsylvania State University.
