Abraham Calderón drove masterfully at the “Bean” at Monterrey Autodrome Sunday afternoon to capture the win in the seventh round of the 2022 NASCAR Mexico Series. Calderón, a Monterrey native, survived the high temperatures, exhaustion, and a spectacular duel with runner up Salvador de Alba Jr. who crossed the finish line second 0.555 seconds behind to win in front of his hometown fans. Rounding out the podium in third was championship leader Rubén García Jr., 0.898 behind the leaders.
PEAK /Laboratorio Tequis driver, Gustavo Barrales, had a challenging race, starting at the tail end of the field but worked up to the top 20 before his carbon monoxide filter gave out. Barrales battled on until he had to stop at lap 64 from being hypoxic, finishing the race in 33rd position. Barrales next race in the PEAK Antifreeze & Coolant colors will be October 28th in Querétaro.
